Dnipropetrovsk Region Allocates UAH 1.7 Million To Buy Flats For Five 2012 Olympics Medal Winner

DNIPROPETROVSK, Ukraine -- The Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration has allocated UAH 1.7 million ($0.21 million) for procurement of new flats to five sportsmen who won prizes at the 2012 Olympics in London, Great Britain, chairman of the regional state administration, Oleksandr Vilkul, has told journalists.

He notes, Olympic champions in rowing and canoeing Yana Dementieva, Natalia Dovgodko, Anastasia Kozhenkova, Ekateina Tarasenko and silver medal winner in Men's Javelin Throw Oleksandr Pyatnytsia will receive flats in the housing estate Left Bank 3.

"This is a pretty sum, but we must support the sportsmen," said Vilkul.

In his words, the gold medal winners will get three-room apartments and the silver medal winner a two-room one.

As earlier reported, 245 Ukrainian sportsmen participated in the London Olympics.

Ukrainian athletes won six gold, five silver and nine bronze medals at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Great Britain.

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games took place in London from July 27 to August 12.
