Nationalist Leader Detained In Ukraine

MOSCOW, Russia -- A nationalist leader and his deputy have been detained in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia.

The head of the local nationalist group Svoboda and his aide are charged with masterminding the blast of the statue of Stalin, which was installed on the territory of the Communist party’s premises in Zaporizhia, in May last year.

On January 1st the city’s nationalists were to hold a motor rally timed for the 102nd birthday anniversary of the Ukrainian nationalist Stepan Bandera.

A torch march also planned by nationalist supporters was banned by a local court.
